Back from sunny Florida!
Hello all! I made it back safe and sound from Florida and let me tell you... a great time was had by all. I took John back with me to meet the family and it went
really well! Everyone loved him and we had a fantastic time. I'll post some highlights of the trip just as soon as I download them from my camera. :)
Update: I also heard back from the Wild Rose Press who declined my story. They said that there was not enough romance in the story. This was something I was afraid of. They did however, say that I had a good voice and good writing mechanics, and that if I wanted to beef up the romance in the story, that they would review it again at a later date. :)Labels: Ramblings, Vacation

I'm a Nitwit And Other Odd Ramblings
Lesa~Dragon asked me to post the Nitwit story. I can't believe I'm doing it, but here goes...
So the wonderful Wild Rose Press editor emailed me asking for my full manuscript of my short story, The Watcher. Commence freak-out. (OMG they actually want to see something! OMG they're probably going to reject it!) Once I begin breathing normally again, it's time to send out the manuscript. Only problem is, it's on my home computer not my work computer. So I must wait.
At home, I quickly pull up the email and reply to the editor with my glowing thanks for considering such a lowly story and author as my myself and attach the document. I check her name to be sure that I've spelled it right and hit the magic SEND button.
Commence freak-out part 2. (OMG I sent it in!)
The following day...
I go back into my email and check my sent folder to make certain that I didn't just dream the whole thing. Nope. There's my email in all of it's glory... except one tiny little details pokes its head up. Uh oh. Wasn't that file supposed to be in .rtf format? Oh sh!t. I quickly pull up the guidelines from The Wild Rose Press. Yep. It definitely should be in .rtf format AND I didn't even send the manuscript that is broken into chapters! I sent the word document in .doc format with no chapters.
Commence freak-out part 3. (OMG I'm a nitwit!!!)
Now what? *deep sigh and bang head on desk* Ok, this is fixable. All I have to do is email the editor and tell her that I'm a nitwit, this time attaching the correct file. No big deal. (I'm such a nitwit). But should I do it now or wait a couple of days? Sucking it up, I resend, triple check everything and send...
Two weeks now and I haven't heard from her to know if she received the new email. I may be rejected based on the fact that I'm a nitwit, but I'm ok with that. It's all a learning experience.
Now on to other ramblings. I'm not going to bore you all with the details of what's going on in my life right now. Let's just say that there is a lot going on in the brain right now and not all of it is good. I'm tired all of the time and just not motivated to edit 400 pages. Fortunately I'll be able to take manuscript with me to Florida next week and work on it some then. (Freak-out #4 coming soon to a blog near you... my boyfriend is meeting my parents!)
I guess I should end with something writerly. I don't have any wisdom to share except quadruple check your attachments before you send them and make sure to put contact information for yourself down. I do have a question though. Thinking back on your life and your loves, have you ever wanted to include someone in one of your stories and give them an HEA?
I've got one. It will be the HEA I never had with him but always wanted. Anyone else?Labels: Ramblings
