John (Bachelor #2) and I went over Memorial Day weekend and it was better than I had imagined. It could have had something to do with an ultra-romantic weekend, but really... the view was spectacular! I highly recommend a trip there. From Astoria to Newport are some of the most beautiful places on earth. The cliffs are really something to see.
We had a great drive down from Seattle, pulled over at a number of places just to take pictures (Elk anyone?) and finally got to our destination: the Inn at Otter Rock. Here it is on the cliffs-
Gorgeous, isn't it?
We enjoyed a candlelit dinner at their restaurant that has incredible views of the water and saw a lighthouse off in the distance. Light piano music filled the room... it was perfect. :)
Sunday we went to Yaquina Bay Lighthouse and Heceta Head Lighthouse, both of which were beautiful and had great views. Heceta Head was the first lighthouse that John had been able to go up inside of, so that was very special. I've been to several of the lighthouses in North Carolina, but these had their own stature and elegance.
Then we had a relaxing evening and headed back home on Monday. What a beautiful, romantic place! The weather was overcast so it wasn't too hot and the touches of rain made it feel like a rain forest. It was the best weekend I've ever had and I'm so glad that I got to share it with John. He's so sweet to me. :)
Oh, and we saw the rock where One Eyed Willie was spotted. I can't leave that out. LOL!
